Innovative Training Modules in Cloud Computing and IoT
CC&IoT is an education-focused project supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ KA2 Program on "Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices." It focuses on the development of training material and practice modules for the Internet of Things and Cloud Computing education in vocational schools. GT-ARC cooperates with Zonguldak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Turkey, and three additional partners from United Kingdom, Spain, and Bulgaria in this project.
With the increased digitalization and data abundance in today’s world, there is a growing need for expanding the pool of specialized staff who can lead and support the research and development in the fields of cloud computing (CC), internet of things (IoT) and Industry 4.0. This also calls for the development of the skills and competences of trainers and teachers through short-term and long-term learning activities on the modern technological trends and providing them with the necessary tools for equipping their students on those topics.
The trainers at vocational education and training (VET) schools should particularly be empowered with new practical, hands-on training methods and materials to more effectively teach CC and IoT topics to provide students the basic skills and abilities aligned with the current and emerging demand in the industry and the labor market. Given the universal relevance and importance of education, strengthening the international dimension of training and increasing cooperation in the fields of VET and higher education are also critically required for success.
Objectives
CC&IoT project’s overall objective is to develop innovative, modern and easy-to-implement learning and practicing modules in the areas of Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT), with particular focus on the application domain of Industry 4.0, for VET Schools and universities.
Based on the developed curricula and teaching modules, CC&IoT conducts training programs for volunteer vocational teachers, academics or educators, selected among the local partners of the project and vocational education institutions working in similar fields in Cloud Computing and IOT areas.
Furthermore, an online learning platform is established in the project, providing open access to the learning and practicing modules developed in the project for the use of interested students and teachers. Additional training events and pilot studies for students are also organized by the project partners for building up the necessary skills on CC and IoT, while making use of the online learning platform and training resource outputs of the project.
